Recent studies question the benefits of the good cholesterol (H.D.L.) on heart disease

Results from a recent study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association give doubt to the protective benefit of high level of High Density Lipoproteins (H.D.L) on heart disease. In this study, H.D.L. levels were shown to play no role in plaque growth. Only the Low Density Lipoprotein (L.D.L.) levels mattered.

FDA issues suicidal warning on antidepressants

This Monday, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issues a Public Health Advisory linking antidepressants to increased suicidal attempts in affected patients.This warning extends to most of the newer antidepressants: Prozac (fluoxetine), Zoloft (sertraline), Paxil (paroxetine), Luvox (fluvoxamine), Celexa (citalopram), Lexapro (escitalopram), Wellbutrin (bupropion), Effexor (venlafaxine), Serzone (nefazodone), and Remeron (mirtazapine).
